Please make sure you went through the Contraindications page (click here) and read through thoroughly as there are cases where you may not be able to get the treatment done. It is your responsibility to make sure that you have read all of the disqualifying conditions listed before booking your appointment to make sure that you are a suitable candidate. If you show up for your appointment and have any of the conditions listed, or are under 18 years old, you will be sent home and you will lose your deposit.
PLEASE FILL OUT THE MEDICAL HISTORY & CONSENT FORM AFTER BOOKING YOUR APPOINTMENT. CLICK THIS LINK: BROW CONSENT FORM
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me either on my contact form on my main page, or you can text me at 604-505-5592. If you'd feel more comfortable, we can also get you in for a 15 minute complimentary consultation via video chat and I can answer any of your questions and address any of your concerns.
Reminder: PLEASE do NOT drink coffee or anything with caffeine and DO NOT drink alcohol within 24 hours of your appointment as this will act as a blood thinner and cause the area to bleed more during the procedure. This will result in very poor pigment retention, and you will be wasting your money. This is very important!
Please remember to follow all of the pre-care after care instructions as this will effect the healing process and retention. You will be given an aftercare kit and instructions before you leave, and I will also go over all of the aftercare instructions before we even get started just to make sure you are fully aware. You will need to sign a medical history and consent form prior to beginning your appointment.
A touch up is required approximately 4-8 weeks after your initial treatment for an additional cost in order to complete the initial treatment. This also depends on your skin type and after care regime. After the first touch up, it is recommended to come once every 1-2 years to maintain as the procedures are semi-permanent, but coming sooner is a personal preference if you want your brows refreshed sooner. I will give you recommendations on when to book again after your first touch up appointment so we can see how your skin heals and how it retains the pigment.
If you have longer hair, please tie up your hair for your appointment or clip any loose hairs away as the brow & forehead area need to be clear of any contaminants for the procedure.
Most common FAQ is "Does it hurt?" I use a high quality numbing cream with 5% Lidocaine to sit on your brows for approximately 25-30 minutes. The area will be numb for the procedure before we start, however, everyone's pain tolerance is different. It is usually little to mild discomfort. In most cases, clients even fall asleep during the appointment as it can be very relaxing with music playing in the background and laying down on a comfy massage table!
"Will I get to see what my brows will look like first?" The answer is... OF COURSE! I will ALWAYS predraw the brow shape with a brow pencil and include you in every step, including the pigment colour we choose. I will of course give you suggestions and input on what would look best on you but will always show you before we begin. The mapping and shaping of the brows is where we can make any tweaks or adjustments until we are both 100% happy with everything, once we are good to go that is when I put on the numbing cream and wait to get started. During the numbing is when I will do some pigment colour swatches with you to decide on the colour.
How Long is the Healing Period?
10 days is the most crucial for the cuts to heal up on the outer layer of the skin; however, it takes a minimum of 4-6 weeks to fully heal before you can do a touch up as there is still a healing process under the skin. The strokes will appear up to 2 shades lighter after the healing process is complete.
How Long Do the Brows Last?
Microbladed brows will fade much more over time than a traditional cosmetic tattoo. The average need for touch ups is 12-24 months after the initial touch up. This is affected by the type of skin the client has and how well the skin has been cared for since the procedure. Some clients may require a touch up after 6 months due to having very oily skin, excessive sebum production, UV rays, body chemistry, anti-aging products or cellular turnover (the epidermal layer renews itself every 3 years). Lighter colours fade faster. Due to the low cellular turnover and decreased sun exposure, pigments tend to last longer in older clients. Fading makes it easier to adjust the colour, shape and placement over the years.
Are There Any Side Effects?
The eyebrows might be slightly swollen and red which is completely normal and should subside within 24-48 hours. Bruising is rare but again should subside within 24-48 hours. You can use gel ice packs 10 minutes on and 10 minutes off in the first 6 hours to help eliminate swelling, redness and bruising. I have never had a client need to do this, but it is normal if this does occur. Clients should be aware that the brows will be extremely dark and slightly swollen for the first 4-5 days during the initial healing process so one should not judge the shape or colour until they are completely healed at 4-6 weeks.
Thank you again and I cannot wait to meet you and give you beautiful brows to wake up to everyday!
